मेवाड के राजा, राणा संग्राम सिंह ने आगरा में कण्वा के पास बाबर से युद्ध किया और युद्ध हार गए और उसके बाद उनकी मृत्यु हो गई। उसने जीत के बिना चित्तौड़गढ़ में प्रवेश न करने की कसम खाई थी।

इंग्लिश मिल के क्लॉथ का व्यवसाय स्थापित करने के लिए, ईस्ट इंडियान कंपनी ने बंगाल के बुनकरों पर बंगाल में मुस्लिम और कपड़ा उद्योग को नष्ट करने के लिए विभिन्न प्रतिबंध लगाए थे, जिसका उद्देश्य भारतीय कपड़ा और 'मलमल' उद्योग को नष्ट करना था।
